Frequently Asked Questions

  • Nurturing U is completely online, meaning your recovery will be on your time, in the privacy and comfort of your own home.
  • Our team specializes in both postpartum and pelvic health, qualifying us to treat you days, weeks, months, or years after pregnancy or childbirth.
  • We are a private-pay practice, so there are no copays (just transparent pricing) and you are not limited to a maximum number of visits.
  • You can send your therapist brief messages between visits using our website or mobile app—because care shouldn't end when the session does.

We are currently licensed to serve clients throughout Massachusetts. If you live in a different state, be sure to follow us on social media so you know when we expand to your area!

Nurturing U is a private-pay practice. This allows us to provide a higher standard of care without insurance restrictions or copays stacking up. However, we do provide superbills upon request.

Yes, we do! We provide a superbill upon request that contains all the necessary information for you to submit to your insurance company. This document allows you to request reimbursement.

Whether you are reimbursed, and for how much, will ultimately depend on your specific insurance plan and out-of-network benefits.

The amount you get back will depend on two main things:

  • Your Deductible: This is the amount you have to pay out of pocket before your insurance starts to cover services. You may need to meet your deductible first.
  • Your Reimbursement Rate: This is the percentage of the cost that your insurance will pay you back once your deductible is met. It can range from a small percentage to a large one.

The only way to know for sure is to call your insurance company directly and ask them about your out-of-network benefits for physical therapy. We can provide you with a superbill, which has all the information you need to submit your claim.

Nope! Massachusetts is a direct access state. This means you can begin treatment immediately without a referral from your doctor.

However, if you plan to submit a superbill to your insurance for reimbursement, your specific plan may require a physician’s referral for them to process your claim. We recommend calling your insurance provider to verify their requirements for out-of-network physical therapy services.

Yes! We are 100% online, eliminating the need to leave your home or account for travel time. This means you can receive therapy sessions from the comfort of your own space, making it easier to prioritize your recovery and fit it into your schedule.

Most clients start after their 6-week postpartum follow-up with their doctor. However, if you are experiencing pain or symptoms that affect your quality of life, you do not have to "deal with it!" We can often start sooner with your doctor's approval.

It's never too late! Our team of physical therapists specialize in both postpartum and pelvic health, making us uniquely qualified to treat individuals who have been pregnant or given birth from a few days to many years ago.

Yes! In fact, when it comes to pelvic floor therapy, research shows that provider-led telehealth visits are just as effective as in-person visits, and are often preferred by patients over other methods.

It's all about education! Most exercises can be taught without any hands-on intervention. We empower you with expert guidance and real-time feedback, so you can understand how and why you are performing each exercise, without building reliance on hands-on treatment.

Your initial evaluation will last between 60–75 minutes and will be conducted by a postpartum specialist. During this session, your physical therapist will:

  • Getting to Know You: Your PT will discuss your symptoms, daily activities, and any challenges you're facing to understand your specific needs and goals.
  • The Physical Assessment: Your PT will perform a thorough assessment, including movement tests and a review of your core and pelvic floor function.
  • Understanding Your Body: Your PT will clearly explain their findings, detailing your diagnosis and the underlying reasons for your symptoms. We believe in empowering you with knowledge about your own body.
  • Creating Your Personalized Plan: Together, you will create a personalized treatment plan and discuss an estimated number of visits needed to achieve your goals. You will then select and pay for the care package that best fits your needs, and schedule your follow-up appointments.
  • Your At-Home Care: After your session, you will receive a customized home exercise program with clear instructions to help you progress between visits.

We understand that every client journey is unique. Treatment duration is tailored to your needs and avilability. Treatment sessions last up to 55 minutes.

Yes! You're welcome to reach out with brief clinical questions between sessions. Your PT will do their best to respond within 48 business hours. For more in-depth concerns, they may suggest discussing them in your next session.
